Editorial Policy
WebIndexly exists to help people find websites that are useful, working and safe. This policy explains what we list, how we write about it, and how to get something changed.
What we list #
A website belongs here if it is useful, it works, and it does what it says. That includes free tools, paid products, open-source projects, publications, institutions, communities and public datasets — in any language.
What we don't list #
- Sites that are broken, parked, under construction or mostly ads
- Malware, phishing, scams, piracy or deceptive downloads
- Adult content, hate, harassment or anything illegal
- Thin affiliate pages, scraped or spun content
- Duplicates of something we already list
We can remove a listing at any time if it stops meeting these standards.
How listings are written #
- Descriptions explain what a site does in one or two neutral sentences. We avoid claims like "best" or "#1" in descriptions.
- Pricing is shown only when we're confident. Not confirmed means check the site itself.
- Tags, platforms and type describe the site; they're not endorsements.
- Write-ups. Some listings have a longer section with key features, pros and cons and an FAQ. These may be drafted with AI from the site's own public homepage and our listing data, under strict rules: no invented features, prices or numbers, and no promotional language. If you find a mistake, tell us and we'll fix it.
Editor's picks #
A pick means an editor has looked at the site and thinks it's genuinely good at what it does. Picks can't be bought or requested.
Submissions #
Anyone can suggest a website. A person reviews every submission before it goes live. We may edit the name, description, category and tags so the listing fits the directory. We don't publish everything we receive, and we don't always explain rejections.
Corrections and removals #
- Anyone: use Suggest an edit at the bottom of a listing.
- Site owners: email us from an address at your domain to change or remove your listing. We aim to respond within five working days.
Independence #
WebIndexly is independent. Rankings follow our published rules. Advertising, when shown, is clearly labelled. If we ever use affiliate links, we'll say so on the page where they appear.
