About Ags
Adventure Game Studio (AGS) is an IDE and engine for creating and running videogames in the adventure (quest) genre. This GitHub repository hosts the AGS editor and engine source code. It was created by Chris Jones in 1999 and open-sourced in 2011, and continues to be developed by contributors under the Artistic License 2.0.
You can use the repository to edit adventure games, build the runtime engine, and run games on supported systems. It includes a centralized build system using CMake with platform-specific instructions for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Android, iOS, and Emscripten Web port. On desktop, games launch from an engine executable or command-line argument, while Android supports a game launcher app or signed APK. Game settings are stored in acsetup.cfg.
It suits people interested in making or running adventure games, as well as those who want to build or modify the engine itself. The editor is Windows-only, so other users rely on Windows emulators such as WINE.
