About Alternatives théâtrales
Alternatives théâtrales is a French-language magazine devoted to contemporary performing arts, published since 1979. It combines dramatic analysis, artist interviews, portraits and reviews of theatre, opera, dance and related live forms, alongside thematic issues such as its latest number on the figure of the child on stage.
The site also hosts an ongoing digitization of the magazine's 45 years of archives: more than 2,600 articles are already available, with close to 4,000 expected during 2026. An advanced search lets readers filter by period, discipline and institution. Some articles are marked as subscriber-only, and the homepage advertises subscription access from €3 per month, with a launch discount code during the digitization period. A paper edition of the most recent issue is announced for February 2026.
