About Amethyst

Amethyst is an open-source launcher for playing Minecraft: Java Edition on Android and iOS, based on the Boardwalk and PojavLauncher projects. It can launch nearly all Minecraft versions from rd-132211 to 26.3-snapshot-1, and it supports modding through Forge and Fabric. This repository contains the Android source code; the iOS/iPadOS version is maintained separately in the Amethyst-iOS repository.

Prebuilt apps are distributed through nightly.link and the project's automatic builds, or the launcher can be compiled from source using Gradle and the prebuilt JREs from the project's CI. Mobile ports of OpenJDK 8, 17 and 21 are available for ARM32, ARM64, x86 and x86_64, and OpenAL is noted as working on most devices. The software is licensed under GNU LGPLv3, and known issues are tracked in the project's issue tracker.
