About CLI

vt-cli is an open source command-line interface for VirusTotal, written in Go. It lets users do many of the things they would normally do on the VirusTotal web page, including retrieving information about files, URLs, domain names and IP addresses, searching with VirusTotal Intelligence query syntax, downloading files, managing LiveHunt YARA rules, and launching Retrohunt jobs and retrieving their results.

The tool uses the VirusTotal API, so a VirusTotal API key is required. Free keys have a limited number of requests per minute and do not include some premium features, such as searches and file downloads. Pre-compiled binaries are provided for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, and the tool can also be built from source with Go 1.14.x or higher. Pricing is not stated in the source.
