About Contemporary China Research Clippings Collection
This Hong Kong Baptist University Library resource offers full-text searchable electronic indexes of clippings about contemporary China, originally collected by the Union Research Institute. The underlying clippings come from roughly 230 Chinese-language newspapers and 40 periodicals published across 17 countries and regions including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, covering content from 1950 to the 1970s. The indexes address political, socio-economic, military, cultural, educational and other developments related to mainland China and Taiwan, as well as issues relevant to Hong Kong and overseas Chinese communities. While the indexes are accessible online for search, the full original clippings can only be viewed in person at the library's Special Collections & Archives unit, or by contacting the library directly.
