About DAHR

The Discography of American Historical Recordings (DAHR) is a database of master recordings made by American record companies during the 78rpm era. It is part of the American Discography Project, an initiative of the University of California, Santa Barbara, edited by researchers at the UCSB Library. It expands the Encyclopedic Discography of Victor Recordings by adding licensed discographic data from other publishers.

You can search by names, titles, places, and matrix or catalog numbers, or use advanced browse and search tools. The site currently includes information on 450,000 master recordings from Victor, Columbia, OKeh, Berliner, Edison, Gennett, Plaza, ARC, Brunswick, Zonophone, and other companies. Selected entries provide streaming audio through the UCSB player, embedded YouTube links, or the Library of Congress National Jukebox.

It suits researchers, record collectors, archivists, and listeners interested in early American recordings. Entries draw on company publications, archival documents, published discographies, library collections, and collector submissions. News updates describe editing and digitization work.
