About DroidVNC-NG

droidVNC-NG is an open source VNC server app for Android devices. It lets another device connect to an Android phone or tablet and view its screen over a local network. The app uses Android 7+ APIs and the README states that it does not require root access. The project is hosted on GitHub.

Remote mouse and keyboard control needs the app's AccessibilityService to be enabled on the device. Keyboard input supports the Latin-1 character set plus some special keys. On Android 14 and newer it works with any UI widget. On older devices it works only with EditText widgets. Apart from password exchange, the README states that connections are not currently encrypted. Connections from outside the local network require port forwarding on the router, or a listening viewer.

Key features

  • View the Android device screen remotely, with optional screen scaling
  • Remote mouse and keyboard control once AccessibilityService is enabled
  • Copy and paste text between a VNC viewer and the Android device
  • Keyboard shortcuts for Recent Apps, Home, Back, Power, and volume
  • File transfer with TightVNC viewer for Windows version 1.3.x
