About Drone Logbook

Drone Logbook, also published as Open DroneLog, is an open source application for organizing and analyzing DJI and Litchi drone flight logs. It is available as a Tauri v2 desktop app or as a Docker-deployable web app, and it is built with DuckDB and React. Users can import DJI .txt logs, Litchi CSV files, and Airdata CSV exports, and the source states that optional external parser plugins can be configured for other log formats.

Flight data is stored in a local DuckDB database. The source states that no cloud upload is required, with one exception: a DJI key is fetched during the first import. The project is independent and is not affiliated with DJI, Litchi, Airdata, or DroneLogbook. The source also states that the project is free and requires no subscription, though it does not describe a pricing model in detail.

Key features

  • Imports DJI .txt logs, Litchi CSV, and Airdata CSV exports with automatic unit detection.
  • Optional external parser plugins for custom flight log formats, configured through parsers.json.
  • Prevents duplicate imports using drone serial, battery serial, and start time.
  • Flight maps with 3D terrain and replay at 0.5x to 16x speed.
  • Telemetry charts for height, speed, battery, GPS, and attitude, with synchronized zoom.
  • Battery health tracking with cycle counts and capacity history charts.
Best for: Drone pilots who want to store and analyze their own DJI or Litchi flight logs on a local computer or a self-hosted server.
Good for
  • Source states it is free and open source with no subscription required.
  • Flight data is stored in a local DuckDB database.
  • Supports optional parser plugins for log formats beyond DJI and Litchi.
Watch out for
  • The first import fetches a DJI key from an external service, so that step requires an outside connection.
  • The web version is deployed with Docker and carries a security warning in the project documentation.
  • The README includes a documented fix for a "Damaged File" error on macOS.
