About Infinity

Infinity is an open source database for LLM applications such as search, recommenders, question-answering and RAG workflows. It stores dense vectors, sparse vectors, tensors, full-text and structured data, and supports hybrid search with filtering and rerankers including RRF, weighted sum and ColBERT.

It runs as separate client and server processes using Docker and provides a Python API. Use requires x86_64 CPU with AVX2 support, Python 3.11 or newer, and WSL or WSL2 on Windows.

Key features

  • Hybrid search of dense embedding, sparse embedding, tensor and full-text
  • Filtering combined with vector and full-text search
  • Rerankers including RRF, weighted sum and ColBERT
  • Stores strings, numerics, vectors and structured data
  • Python API with separate client and server processes
  • Single-binary deployment with Docker installation option
Best for: Developers building LLM applications that need combined vector, tensor and full-text search.
Good for
  • Combines dense, sparse, tensor and full-text search in one database
  • Single-binary architecture with no dependencies
  • Open source with Python SDK and Docker deployment
Watch out for
  • Requires x86_64 CPU with AVX2 support
  • Requires Python 3.11 or newer for the client
  • Windows installation requires WSL or WSL2
