About JobSync

JobSync is an open-source, self-hosted job application tracker and job search assistant distributed as a GitHub repository. It records applications with company, title, dates and status, and adds a monitoring dashboard for progress and daily goals, contacts, company pages with a watchlist, resume storage, and a skill-tagged interview question bank.

AI features run through a docked chat and an MCP server that works with Claude Desktop and similar agents: reviewing resumes, scoring job matches, drafting cover letters, adding pasted job listings, and scheduling searches over company job boards. AI can run locally through Ollama or with a cloud provider key, and API keys are configured in Settings after signing in. The self-hosted design keeps resumes and applications on your own server, though choosing a cloud AI provider means that data is handled by that external service. Deployment requires Docker.

Key features

  • Application tracker records company, title, dates and current status
  • Monitoring dashboard shows search progress, activity and daily goals
  • Resume storage with PDF export and PDF or Word import
  • AI chat for resume reviews, match scoring and cover letters
  • Scheduled searches over company job boards with AI matching
  • Contacts, company pages and a skill-tagged interview question bank
Best for: Job seekers who are comfortable running Docker and want to track applications and use AI job-search help on their own server.
Good for
  • Self-hosted, so resumes and application data stay on your own server
  • AI can run locally via Ollama or through a cloud provider key
  • All data can be exported as one zip, imported elsewhere, and an import undone
Watch out for
  • Requires Docker and a self-hosted server to run
  • Changing the encryption key after saving API keys makes those keys unrecoverable
  • Using a cloud AI provider sends data to that external service

JobSync FAQ

How do I run JobSync?
With Docker installed and running, clone the repository, change into the jobsync directory and run docker compose up, then open http://localhost:3737 and create an account. The first startup downloads the prebuilt app image.
Can the AI features run without a cloud provider?
Yes. Models can be run locally on your own machine with Ollama, or you can supply a cloud provider API key, which is configured in Settings after signing in.
How do I back up and move my data?
Export everything as one zip, import it anywhere, and undo an import if needed.
