About macFUSE

macFUSE is a software package that adds support for FUSE file systems to macOS. It intercepts file system operations and forwards them to a user-space process, such as an app or background service, with file content able to come from local storage, network resources, or memory.

The package includes runtime components, tools, libfuse2 and libfuse3, and macFUSE.framework for Swift and Objective-C. It does not include file systems, which must be installed separately. The listed stable release is macFUSE 5.4.0 for macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel, with an FSKit backend for running supported file systems in user space on macOS 26 without enabling a kernel extension.
