About podcast-dl

podcast-dl is a command-line tool for downloading and archiving podcast episodes from an RSS feed URL or a local RSS file. It can save episode audio with podcast and episode metadata, episode images, and transcripts, and supports filtering by date, season, title pattern, offset, and limit.

It runs with npx when Node.js is installed or as a downloaded binary, with options for output directory, concurrent downloads, and retry attempts. Audio conversion, bitrate adjustment, mono conversion, and metadata embedding require ffmpeg, and season filtering works only when the feed includes the itunes:season tag.
