About Quality of Government Institute's Data

The Quality of Government (QoG) Institute at the University of Gothenburg publishes open-access datasets on quality of government, transparency and public administration. Some datasets compile data from other sources, and others are original datasets created by QoG researchers. The original datasets include the QoG Expert Survey, which covers expert views on public administration in more than 100 countries, the European Quality of Government Index, which uses sub-national data from Europe, and a database of Swedish executive agencies covering 1960 to 2014.

The site also offers a Data Finder, a Variable Search Tool and visualization tools to help users locate and explore the data. The Data Extras section contains reading recommendations, a list of original data sources, GDPR regulations and sections for Stata and R users. The Local Quality of Government (Lo-QoG) project aims to build indicators for local governance across 35 European countries, and the source states that this data will be made publicly available. Questions about the data can be sent to [email protected].
