About Rivestack

Rivestack is a managed PostgreSQL service with pgvector running on dedicated local NVMe, aimed at AI vector search. Vectors, metadata, filters, joins and transactions live in the same database as application rows, so there is no separate vector store or ingestion pipeline. It runs always-on compute with no cold starts and no per-query fees, and tuning of HNSW and StreamingDiskANN indexes is handled per plan.

The service offers a one-click sample dataset for running a semantic query before writing integration code, and text can be turned into vectors through the table editor or an embed API. Migration help is included, Terraform is supported, and Starter plans list daily backups with 14-day point-in-time recovery. Databases are available in three regions: EU Central, US East and Singapore. Pricing starts at $29/month after a 7-day trial that requires a card; published latency and QPS figures come from a stated harness and specific configurations.

Key features

  • Managed PostgreSQL with pgvector on dedicated local NVMe
  • Tuned HNSW and StreamingDiskANN indexes sized per plan
  • Always-on compute with no cold starts or per-query fees
  • Vectors, metadata, filters, joins and transactions in one database
  • Embeddings generated through the table editor or embed API
  • Migration help included; daily backups and 14-day PITR on Starter
Best for: Teams running latency-sensitive, always-on vector search that want embeddings and relational data kept in a single PostgreSQL database.
Good for
  • Performance figures are published with an open harness and EXPLAIN ANALYZE methodology rather than modeled.
  • Vectors and application rows stay together, avoiding a second vector database and ingestion pipeline.
  • Fixed monthly plans start at $29, and migration assistance is included.
Watch out for
  • It is a paid service; the 7-day trial requires a card before the $29/month plan begins.
  • Databases are offered in only three regions: EU Central, US East and Singapore.
  • Published latency, QPS and recall figures apply to stated configurations such as dataset size, dimensions and index settings, so results depend on the workload.
  • Provider comparisons use estimated competitor costs; no competitor performance benchmark is implied.
