About Silex

Silex is a visual builder for static websites that exposes HTML and CSS concepts to the user rather than hiding them. Sites can be connected to content from a CMS or API — the homepage names WordPress, Strapi, Squidex, Supabase and custom APIs — so that clients can edit dynamic data, while the published site remains static and is described as fast, accessible, SEO-oriented and eco-friendly.

It can be used in the browser at v3.silex.me with nothing to install. A desktop app is available in alpha with experimental local-first, offline-first and open-source AI integration, and the platform can be self-hosted. Silex is maintained by Silex Labs, a French non-profit, as an OW2 project, and is hosted in Europe. The site states it is not the right fit for people who want zero learning curve or a site live in ten minutes. A template pack for freelancers and agencies is still being funded, and other listed features are marked as under development.
