About SpaceFM

SpaceFM is a multi-panel, tabbed file and desktop manager for Linux. It includes a built-in VFS, a device manager based on udev or HAL, a customisable menu system, and bash-GTK integration. The project aims to provide a stable, capable file manager with significant customisation options.

It requires GTK+ v2 or v3 (versions 2.18 through 3.x are supported), along with udev, eudev, or HAL, desktop-file-utils, and shared-mime-info. Optional components include udevil, udisks, or pmount for mounting, plus startup-notification, custom terminal emulators, multiple su front-ends, and plugins. SpaceFM and udevil can be used without systemd, consolekit, policykit, dbus, udisks, gvfs, and fuse, although they can coexist with these. Installation options are distribution packages, a Net Installer, or source downloaded from GitHub releases. The Net Installer must be run in a terminal and works interactively.
