About Subtitle One

Subtitle One is a free, browser-based tool for processing subtitle files. It supports batch conversion between text formats (SRT, ASS, WebVTT, SBV, MicroDVD) and image-based formats (Blu-ray PGS, VobSub), timing adjustment, cue text cleanup, and translation via Google Translate. Most processing runs locally in the user's browser with no file uploads to Subtitle One's servers, except translation which sends subtitle text to Google only when initiated. No account signup, queues, or daily usage limits are required for any tools.

Key features

  • Batch convert text subtitles to multiple formats including Blu-ray PGS
  • Convert image-based PGS and VobSub subtitles to editable text via OCR
  • Adjust subtitle timing with simple, partial, or linear shift modes
  • Clean up flawed cue text in subtitle files
  • Translate subtitles using Google Translate with reviewable output
  • Process non-translation tasks entirely locally in-browser with no server uploads
Best for: It is best for users who need to convert, edit, sync, or translate subtitle files without account creation or software installation, including those working with both text and image-based subtitle formats.
Good for
  • No account signup, queues, or daily usage limits for all tools
  • Non-translation processing runs entirely locally in the browser, with no file uploads to Subtitle One servers
  • Supports conversion between a wide range of text and image-based subtitle formats, including OCR for image subtitles
Watch out for
  • Translation feature sends subtitle text to Google Translate, so content is not processed locally for this tool
  • Image subtitle conversion is CPU-intensive, as all processing runs in the user's browser
  • Image-based subtitles cannot be converted back to image formats, and PGS output requires a text source

Subtitle One FAQ

Are my subtitle files uploaded to your server?
Subtitle files are parsed in your browser and are not uploaded to Subtitle One's server. For translation, subtitle text is sent to Google Translate only after you explicitly start translation. Other site features such as ads, metrics, and access verification may make network requests.
Do I need to create an account to use the tools?
No. There is no signup, no queue and no daily limit. Open a tool, drop your file in, and download the result.
Why does my CPU usage spike during image subtitle conversion?
Conversion runs entirely in your browser using your own CPU, and converting picture subtitles is CPU-intensive: every cue picture must be extracted, processed and recognized by the OCR engine, and a single file can contain thousands of cues. A faster processor means faster conversions.
