About The Borr Project

The Borr Project is a mathematics curriculum built from online learning materials. It is designed to follow the degree requirements of undergraduate math majors, without the general education (non-math) requirements, and assumes learners are already educated outside the field of math. Students cover core topics such as mathematical thinking, calculus, differential equations, and discrete mathematics, then choose elective Advanced Topics. Courses are drawn from external sources, often from universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Stanford, and are selected to match the 2015 CUPM Guide, be open for enrollment, run regularly, and meet a standard of quality. When no course meets these criteria, the coursework is supplemented with a book.

The project suggests about 2 years of study at roughly 18 to 22 hours per week. It states that it aims to use free resources, but some courses may charge for graded assignments, tests, or projects. Students can work alone or in groups, and a Discord server and GitHub issues are used for discussion and reporting course problems. Students who share coursework publicly must share only files they are allowed to share.
