The Fish Doorbell
The Fish Doorbell lets visitors alert a sluice operator when they see fish so the gate can open for passage.

About The Fish Doorbell
The Fish Doorbell provides an underwater camera view at the Weerdsluis lock in Utrecht during spring migration, when fish travel through the canals toward the Kromme Rijn to spawn. If viewers see fish on the livestream, they can ring the online bell to notify the lock keeper, who opens the lock when enough fish are waiting.
The service is seasonal and is currently paused, with the camera off and the bell silent until March 1, 2027. The site also offers season DataVISuals, timestamped viewer fish photos, and lessons about fish and underwater nature.
