About APKEditor

APKEditor is an open source command-line tool for viewing and editing the resources in Android application packages (APKs). It is run with java -jar APKEditor.jar and uses ARSCLib to handle APK resources. According to the directory description, it does not require aapt or aapt2.

It can decode APK resources into readable JSON, XML, or raw files, rebuild them from those formats, merge split APK packages such as XAPK, APKM, and APKS, and rename obfuscated resource names. XML output is available only for APKs that are not obfuscated. Decoding is also limited by dex version: the internal dex library supports versions up to 042, and the jf library supports versions 035 and below.
