About AUTOfinance

AUTOfinance, also called Auto Finance and formerly Tokemak, is a web-based DeFi protocol that manages liquidity and yield for depositors. Depositors place assets such as ETH, USDC or other stablecoins into Autopools, which are smart-contract vaults that spread the assets across decentralized exchanges, lending protocols and liquidity pools, including Curve, Balancer, Aave and Morpho. The vaults rebalance between these destinations as yields and market conditions change.

The source states that a rebalance runs only when the projected gain from a new allocation exceeds the gas and slippage costs of moving. Returns are compounded into the Autopool's base asset, and returns and portfolio values are shown in that base asset. The source also says the Autopools currently charge no management, performance, deposit or withdrawal fees. Yield is reported as APY and comes from trading fees, lending interest and protocol incentives. Withdrawals depend on on-chain liquidity.

Key features

  • Autopools that rebalance deposited assets across DeFi liquidity pools and lending markets
  • Continuous monitoring of liquidity pools and lending markets for yield and market changes
  • Rebalancing only when projected gains exceed gas and slippage costs
  • Automatic compounding of returns into the Autopool's base asset
  • Returns and portfolio values shown in the base asset for tracking
  • Curated strategies across multiple chains and assets with different risk profiles
Best for: DeFi users who hold ETH, stablecoins or other major assets and want yield managed automatically without handling positions or claiming rewards by hand.
Good for
  • Rebalancing and compounding run automatically on-chain, so depositors do not need to claim rewards or re-enter positions manually.
  • Returns and portfolio values are shown in one base asset, which the source describes as simpler to track.
  • The source states that the Autopools currently charge no management, performance, deposit or withdrawal fees.
Watch out for
  • Withdrawals are subject to on-chain liquidity, so depositors may not be able to withdraw at any time.
  • Strategies are designed with different risk profiles and reward opportunities, so the risk varies by Autopool.
  • Yield comes from trading fees, lending interest and protocol incentives, and the source says rates change as market conditions change.

AUTOfinance FAQ

What is an Autopool?
An Autopool is a smart-contract vault built on the ERC-4626 token standard. It holds a diversified set of liquidity positions across decentralized exchanges, lending protocols and liquidity pools, and rebalances them autonomously.
Is AUTOfinance non-custodial?
The source says deposited assets are held by smart contracts rather than by the Auto Finance team. Depositors can withdraw at any time, subject to on-chain liquidity.
Is Auto Finance the same as Tokemak?
Yes. Auto Finance is the current name of the protocol previously known as Tokemak. The TOKE token has migrated to AUTO.
