About Chronicler

Chronicler is a free, offline worldbuilding tool and local wiki for writers, game masters, and tabletop RPG creators. It stores notes as plain Markdown files on the user's computer, with no sign-up, subscription, or cloud storage. It runs 100% offline and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Users can create and organize pages in folders, write in Markdown with auto-save and split-screen preview, and connect pages with wikilinks, backlinks, and hierarchical tags. It includes reusable templates, wiki-style infoboxes, local image embeds, galleries, and page inserts. Links update automatically on rename, and Obsidian vaults can be opened directly.

It suits tabletop RPG game masters building campaigns, novelists organizing characters and lore, and privacy-focused creators who want local files. The code is source-available for viewing and auditing under PolyForm Shield 1.0.0, but modification and redistribution are not allowed.
