About cosine.club

cosine.club is a similarity search engine for electronic music. Given a track, it finds other tracks that sound alike by comparing the audio itself rather than relying on tags or metadata. Each track is analyzed with an audio model, and the search returns the closest matches first. Users can search by pasting a link from a supported service.

The site's FAQ states that it is free and that searching does not require an account. An account saves playlists, favorites and history, and provides an API key. Limits include that Tidal and Deezer links are not yet supported, Spotify and SoundCloud links must point to a single track, and phone recordings taken in noisy venues rarely find the original track. The site's FAQ also notes that YouTube may block playback when a VPN is detected.

cosine.club FAQ

Can I use cosine.club to identify a track, like Shazam?
Not reliably. Shazam matches exact recordings using audio fingerprints, while cosine.club compares overall sound, so a phone recording from a club rarely finds the original. A clean rip uploaded to Vocaroo and pasted as a link works much better, and if the track is not in the catalog, the results may still include label mates or records from the same scene and year.
Is cosine.club free, and do I need an account?
The FAQ says the service is free and that you can search and find similar tracks without an account. An account saves playlists, favorites and history and provides an API key. The FAQ also says there is no paid tier, and that users can become supporters to help cover hosting costs.
Which links can I submit?
YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Spotify, Beatport, Discogs, Apple Music and Vocaroo links are listed as accepted. Spotify and SoundCloud links must point to a single track. Tidal and Deezer are not yet supported.
