DNS Speed Test
Benchmark DNS-over-HTTPS servers from your browser and compare their response times with DNS Speed Test.

About DNS Speed Test
DNS Speed Test is a browser-based tool that measures DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) response times from the user's own location. It benchmarks a set of DoH servers against a list of hostnames, reporting minimum, median, average and maximum round-trip times in milliseconds so results can be compared across servers.
The test runs entirely in the browser using fetch and performance.now(), with a warm-up phase to reduce TCP/TLS handshake overhead. Queries time out after 5 seconds and unresponsive servers are marked Unavailable with a 5000ms penalty. Results vary with network latency, bandwidth and browser load, so the site recommends several runs at different times and treats the numbers as a relative comparison. The site states that no server-side code is involved and no personal data is collected.
Key features
- Benchmarks DoH servers with min, median, average and maximum timings
- Runs measurements entirely in the browser, no installation required
- Warm-up phase primes connections and caches before timing
- Per-hostname timings shown for a selected DNS server
- Custom hostnames can be added to the benchmark list
- Custom DoH servers can be added; CORS and method support auto-detected
- Measures real DoH round-trip times from the user's local environment
- Warm-up phase reduces TCP/TLS handshake overhead for fairer comparison
- Benchmark host and server lists can be exported and imported as JSON
- Results vary with network latency, bandwidth and browser load, so multiple runs are needed
- Timings include HTTP/TLS overhead and may be higher than raw DNS query tools
- Only DNS-over-HTTPS servers are tested
