About East London Theatre Archive

The East London Theatre Archive (ELTA) was a database of East London theatre materials, drawn from V&A Theatre Collections, East London theatres and University of East London (UEL) archives. Its collection covered 1827 to the present day and included playbills, programmes, press cuttings and photographs, along with themed essays and maps of theatre locations. The project ran from 2007 to 2009, and between 2009 and 2011 it took part in the JISC-funded CEDAR project, which added some changes and extra material.

The site has been archived by King's Digital Lab (KDL) and was decommissioned in July 2018. The ELTA website and its digitised theatre collections are currently not available. According to the source, project content is stored as a backed-up virtual machine and can be made available on request, depending on access controls agreed with the Principal Investigator, for at least two years from the decommissioning date.
