About Essential Charts
Essential Charts is a wiki page from 4chan's /mu/sic Wiki that collects music reference charts. Each chart is meant as an entry point into a genre, giving a basic sense of what that genre offers. The page recommends listening to some of the recommended music first and then exploring genres independently.
The page lists charts by genre, era, and collection, including charts for numerous genres and several decade-based selections. It links to a Discovering Music help page and to Spotify playlists for the charts. The page states that nearly all charts could be downloaded from it, but it also notes that this download link is dead.
