About Firefox Scripts

Firefox Scripts is a GitHub repository of userChromeJS scripts, autoconfig.js files, and extensions for customizing Firefox. The README gives manual installation steps: extract a downloaded zip into the Firefox installation folder, create a chrome folder in the profile, and save the chosen scripts into it. The instructions were tested on Firefox Developer Edition 131.0b4. The repository lists Linux and macOS as its platforms.

The scripts add browser behavior such as media control across tabs and changes to address bar autofill. One optional script, rebuild_userChrome.uc.js, adds a button for managing scripts, including enabling and disabling them without restarting Firefox. Not all scripts are restartless. Those marked with @shutdown require a restart, and the author notes that most scripts from other sources are not restartless. Some scripts are also compatible with Thunderbird, as marked in the README.

Key features

  • Optional rebuild_userChrome.uc.js script for enabling and disabling scripts from a button

  • BeQuiet supports play and pause for Deezer, Spotify, and YouTube
  • Address bar script that preselects the first autocomplete suggestion
  • Download bundles for scripts only, extensions only, or both
  • Installation instructions for Linux and macOS folder paths
