About FreeTube Android

FreeTube Android is an open source YouTube player for Android, forked from the desktop FreeTube project. It is distributed as an APK and as a progressive web app (PWA). According to the project, it is built with privacy in mind, aiming to let users watch YouTube without advertisements and to limit Google tracking through cookies and JavaScript. Privacy outcomes depend on how the app is used, and the project does not claim guaranteed privacy.

The APK uses a built-in extractor to retrieve data and videos, and can optionally use the Invidious API. The PWA uses only the Invidious API. Subscriptions and history are stored locally on the device and, according to the project, are never sent out.
