The Gentoo Handbook, the official installation documentation, is linked from the main page.
Most pages can be edited by the public after logging in. Official pages with the Handbook or Project prefix can only be edited by developers, but community members can leave feedback on their Discussion pages. Some articles, including the handbook and project pages, are protected from public edits, though issues on them can still be reported. The visual editor is currently disabled because of usability issues. In February 2026, the wiki reported heavy scraper bot activity that caused server errors and slow or incomplete page loading.
