The Ouroboros project describes a self-creating AI agent created in 2026.
Hermes Agent
Hermes Agent runs as an open-source, self-hosted AI agent with memory, skills, and messaging integrations.

About Hermes Agent
Hermes Agent is an open-source, self-hosted AI agent that runs on macOS, Windows and Linux via a desktop app or terminal install. It stores conversations, memories and skills between sessions and connects to messaging platforms including Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal and email.
It supports natural-language scheduling for unattended tasks, isolated subagents, web search, browser automation, vision, image generation and text-to-speech, with sandbox backends including local, Docker, SSH, Singularity and Modal. Use requires connecting a model provider, and tasks needing an active agent do not run while a local agent is stopped.
