About HoverNotes

HoverNotes is a web-based note-taking tool for learning from video. It works with YouTube, Udemy, Coursera and other sites that play video in the browser, including local files. It captures both the spoken content and what appears on screen, such as code, equations and diagrams.

Users can generate structured notes with headings and bullet points, add timestamped screenshots, and adjust playback speed from 0.1x to 16x. Notes are saved as markdown files directly to an Obsidian vault stored locally, and can also be used with Logseq or Roam. Notes can be created in a preferred language and do not require captions.

It suits students, professionals and lifelong learners who regularly study from tutorials, courses and lectures, particularly those who keep notes in Obsidian and need records of visual material.
