About Irssi

Irssi is a modular text-mode chat client. It includes IRC support built in, and third-party modules add support for ICB, SILC, XMPP (Jabber), PSYC and Quassel. This GitHub repository hosts the source code and install instructions for building it with Meson and Ninja, either from a development clone or from a release archive. The build needs glib 2.32 or later and openssl, plus Perl 5.8 or later for Perl support and terminfo or ncurses for the text interface.

The source page lists documentation resources, including a new users guide, a Q&A page and a built-in /HELP command that covers command syntax. Security issues should be reported to [email protected]. Bugs and suggestions can be filed as GitHub issues or sent by email.
