About June

June is an open-source Android journal app for private personal writing. Entries can combine text with photos, videos, precise locations, mood emojis and song links from major streaming services, and can be organized with three tag groups: Spaces, People and Topics. A month-view timeline, calendar streaks, reminders, rich text editing and search or tag-based filtering support reviewing past entries.

June uses an offline architecture with backup and restore; the project states that data stays on the device unless the user chooses to sync. Sync is offered through WebDAV, so users can host their own data with Nextcloud, ownCloud or another WebDAV provider. A biometric or PIN privacy vault adds screen capture and recents protection, and a network toggle can disable all external access. The app is built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, and building it locally requires Android Studio with JDK 17.

June FAQ

Does June work without an internet connection?
Yes. June uses an offline architecture, and a network toggle can turn off all external network access, though that also prevents fetching song metadata or using online map services.
Can I sync my journal across devices?
Yes, through WebDAV using your own Nextcloud, ownCloud or any WebDAV provider.
How can I verify an official APK release?
Official APK releases are cryptographically signed. You can verify signed build logs on the Attestations Dashboard or use the GitHub CLI attestation verify command.
