About LightlyTrain

LightlyTrain is an open source Python package for training computer vision models, including YOLO, ViTs, RT-DETR and DINOv3. It supports pretraining DINOv2/v3 models on unlabeled data, fine-tuning transformer and YOLO models for detection and segmentation, and model distillation including custom teachers.

It installs with pip on Python 3.8+ for Windows, Linux and macOS, and includes ONNX and TensorRT export. Use at work, in production, on the edge, or for proprietary models likely requires a commercial license.

Key features

  • Pretrain DINOv2 and DINOv3 models on unlabeled data
  • Fine-tune transformer and YOLO models for detection and segmentation
  • Distill models with support for custom teacher models
  • Train LTDETRv2 detectors with DINOv2, DINOv3, ECViT backbones
  • Train LTDETRv2 instance segmentation models with ECViT backbones
  • Export trained models to ONNX and TensorRT including FP16
Best for: Developers training vision models in Python who need pretraining, fine-tuning, and distillation.
