About ModelFox

ModelFox is a GitHub repository for training, deploying, and monitoring machine learning models. From the command line, the modelfox train command builds a model from a CSV file and a named target column. The CLI transforms the data into features, trains linear and gradient boosted decision tree models, and saves the best one to a .modelfox file. Predictions can be made with libraries for Elixir, Go, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Rust.

A local browser app, started with modelfox app, lets users view stats and metrics, tune a model, and see example predictions with explanations. After deployment, prediction logging is opt-in. Logged predictions can be looked up by identifier, and the tool can alert on data drift or metric drops and track accuracy, precision, and recall. The repository is MIT licensed except for the crates/app directory, which is free to use for testing but requires a paid license for production use. Building from source requires the latest nightly Rust toolchain.

Key features

  • Trains a model from a CSV file using a command-line interface
  • Automatically transforms input data into features before training
  • Trains linear and gradient boosted decision tree models and saves the best
  • Prediction libraries for Elixir, Go, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Rust
  • Local browser app for viewing metrics, tuning models, and explaining predictions
  • Opt-in production prediction logging with drift and metric alerts
Best for: Developers who want to train a model from a CSV file and call its predictions from one of several supported programming languages.
Good for
  • Trains models from a CSV file with a single command-line call
  • Provides prediction libraries for seven programming languages
  • Can monitor deployed models for data drift and metric drops
Watch out for
  • The app in crates/app requires a paid license for production use
  • Prediction logging for monitoring is opt-in and must be added in code
  • Building from source requires the latest nightly Rust toolchain
