This project profiles data quality and supports exploratory analysis of Pandas and Spark DataFrames.
Optimus
Optimus supports agile data preparation workflows across Pandas, Dask, cuDF, Vaex, and PySpark.

About Optimus
Optimus is an open-source Python library for data preparation that runs over pandas, Dask, cuDF, Dask-cuDF, Vaex or Spark. It offers a single API for loading, processing, plotting and building machine learning models, so the same code can be used on a laptop or a remote cluster of GPUs.
Optimus installs with pip (pyoptimus), with pandas as the default engine; other engines are added through extras such as pyoptimus[dask] or pyoptimus[spark]. It requires Python 3.7 or 3.8, adds .rows and .cols accessors to standard DataFrames, and includes more than 100 functions for handling strings, dates, URLs and emails, along with functions to explore and fix data quality issues.
Key features
- Loads CSV, JSON, Parquet, Avro and Excel files from local paths or URLs
- Loads from and saves to Oracle, Redshift, MySQL and Postgres databases
- More than 100 functions for strings, dates, URLs and emails
- Same code runs on a laptop or a remote GPU cluster
- Extends DataFrames with .rows and .cols accessors
- Plots data of any size and can create ML models
- Open-source Python library with a simple, pandas-familiar API aimed at newcomers
- Runs across six engines (pandas, Dask, cuDF, Dask-cuDF, Vaex and Spark) without rewriting code
- Includes built-in functions for data quality exploration and correction
- Requires Python 3.7 or 3.8
- Non-default engines need separate installs, such as pyoptimus[dask] or pyoptimus[spark]
- Repository installation points to a develop branch rather than a stable release
