This repository provides a command-line tool and a Gradio-based web interface for converting EPUB ebooks into audiobooks. Each chapter is converted into a separate MP3 file, with chapter titles extracted and included as metadata; output is optimized for Audiobookshelf. Audio generation can use Microsoft Azure Text-to-Speech, OpenAI Text-to-Speech, Edge TTS, Piper TTS, or Kokoro TTS through a local OpenAI endpoint. Requirements include Python 3.10+ or Docker. Azure TTS needs a Microsoft Azure account with access to Cognitive Services Speech Services, OpenAI TTS needs an OpenAI API key, Edge TTS needs no API key, Piper TTS needs its executable and models, and Kokoro TTS needs a dummy OpenAI key unless the provided Docker Compose file is used. Chapter title extraction may not work for all EPUB files, especially those with complex or unusual formatting.
