RTranslator
RTranslator provides real-time translation on Android through an open source mobile application.

About RTranslator
RTranslator is an Android app for real-time translation that runs locally, described in its repository as almost open source. It offers Conversation mode for connecting with another phone using the app, WalkieTalkie mode for quick turn-based exchanges with one phone, and a classic text translation mode. Conversation mode is the main feature and can connect more than one phone, allowing translation between more than two people; it supports Bluetooth headsets. WalkieTalkie mode only translates between two people, does not support Bluetooth headsets, and requires users to talk in turns.
The repository says translation uses Meta's NLLB and speech recognition uses OpenAI's Whisper; the 3.0 beta replaces NLLB with a choice among Mozilla Bergamot, Madlad 400 3B, and HY-MT 1.5 1.8B models. The app can run offline after setup, but first launch downloads translation and speech recognition models (1.2GB) from GitHub. In some regions GitHub is slow, and the source says models can be downloaded separately and inserted manually. Background operation is supported in Conversation and WalkieTalkie modes, though some phones limit background power.
