Spark
spark profiles Minecraft clients, servers, and proxies to help inspect performance.

About Spark
spark is a performance profiler for Minecraft clients, servers, and proxies. It has three components: a CPU profiler for diagnosing lag, low tick rate, and high CPU usage; memory inspection tools for diagnosing memory problems on a server; and server health reporting for tracking overall server condition. The CPU profiler samples system activity and builds a call graph that is displayed in an online viewer for analysis. No configuration is needed beyond installing the plugin or mod, and about 30 seconds of profiling is described as enough to produce useful results.
The project is free and open source under the GNU GPLv3 license, and its API submodule is under the MIT license. The native profiler engine, which uses the async-profiler library, is only available on Linux and macOS systems. The heap summary is described as a basic view and is not intended to replace full memory analysis tools.
Key features
- CPU profiler that samples system activity and builds a call graph
- Native/Async and Java profiler engines with tunable sampling
- Heap summary showing memory usage and instance counts per class
- Heap dump that captures a full HPROF snapshot of server memory
- GC monitoring to relate garbage collection activity to server hangs
- Server health metrics including TPS, tick durations, CPU, memory, and disk usage
- The project describes the profiler as lightweight enough to run in production with minimal impact.
- No configuration or setup is needed beyond installing the plugin or mod.
- Free and open source under the GNU GPLv3 license.
- The native/async profiler engine is only available on Linux and macOS systems.
