Special K
Adjust PC game behavior and settings with Special K, a toolkit for various game-related functions.

About Special K
Special K is an open-source toolkit for PC gaming whose repository contains source code for the Special K code injection payload, SpecialK(32|64).dll. It is used to adjust PC game behavior and settings, with functions related to fixing and enhancing graphics, performance analysis and correction mods, and other game-related modifications. Injection can be done locally by renaming the DLL to a proxy or wrapper name such as dxgi, d3d11, d3d9, d3d8, ddraw, dinput8, or OpenGL32, or globally through a Win32 CBT/Shell hookchain, which is the preferred technique and can be bootstrapped via RunDLL_InjectionManager.
Platform and build limits apply. Special K is not supported on anything older than Windows 8.1; as of 23.5.7 it still builds and runs on Windows 7 with Platform Update but with massively reduced features. It runs in WINE and is compatible with DXVK, but must be configured with UsingWINE=true in its per-game INI file for Linux. Late injection prevents some features, particularly D3D overrides and shader/texture mods. The repository requires Visual C++ 2022 or newer to compile; Debug build configuration may not compile correctly. Supporting utilities such as SKIF and the deprecated SKIM are maintained as separate projects, and older plug-ins and SKIM are no longer actively maintained. Pricing is unknown.
