About Thunderbird

Thunderbird Mobile is a free, open-source email app for Android. You can add several email accounts and choose between their separate folders and a unified inbox. Light and dark modes change the reading interface, and the app's development relies on donations rather than advertising. It is useful if you want personal, school and work mail available in one Android app.

Existing Thunderbird Desktop users can import account settings by scanning a QR code. New users can add their accounts directly, with automatic configuration available for most providers. You can also configure push mail for folders that need more immediate updates. The app is a client for your email accounts, so successful setup still depends on the provider and its access rules.

For OpenPGP email, Thunderbird for Android uses the separate OpenKeychain app. You need to install and configure it, including the relevant keys; encryption does not switch on merely because you installed Thunderbird. Work accounts also need a compatibility check: Thunderbird's current Microsoft protocol guide says native Exchange and Graph support on Android is still planned.
