About TwitchLib

TwitchLib is an open-source C# library for interacting with Twitch services. It covers chat and whisper messaging, the Twitch API (deprecated v5, Helix, undocumented and third-party endpoints), EventSub via webhooks for ASP.NET Core or websockets, and Twitch Extensions. It runs on anything supporting .NETStandard 2.0, and a Unity wrapper is included for use in Unity projects. The API is a singleton class that must be instantiated with at least a client ID and sometimes an access token; omitting these results in exceptions. Sending whispers requires a known or verified bot, and the API does not currently support Visual Basic.

Key features

  • Sends formatted or raw chat messages and parses chat and whisper commands
  • Events for subscriptions, raids, hosting, bans, timeouts and moderator changes
  • Helix and deprecated v5 API coverage, plus undocumented and third-party endpoints
  • EventSub implementations via ASP.NET Core webhooks and via websocket
  • Unity wrapper for using TwitchLib in Unity projects
  • Services for follower detection, live stream monitoring and message throttling
Best for: C# and .NET developers building Twitch chat bots, stream tools or channel integrations.
