About CoCoON

CoCoON (COllections de COrpus Oraux Numériques, or Digital Oral Corpus Collections) is a web platform for oral language resources. It is jointly managed by the Laboratoire de Langues et civilisations à tradition orale (LACITO - UMR7107), the Laboratoire Ligérien de Linguistique (LLL - UMR7270), and the research infrastructure Huma-Num (IR* HN - UAR3598). A corpus on the platform can include recordings, generally audio, with or without annotations.

Visitors can browse collections and access more than 20,000 records. The site also provides a map showing regions where researchers recorded speakers, and a list of recent deposits. Resources are catalogued and stored, then archived in the IR* Huma-Num archive.

Producers of oral resources can deposit corpora with support for structuring, documentation, dissemination, and archiving. Deposit functions include upstream consulting, secure storage, metadata entry using the OLAC model, linking to repositories such as Rameau and VIAF, and long-term archiving. It suits researchers and institutions working with oral corpora who need cataloguing and archiving.
