About Worldviews
WorldViews is a prototype research infrastructure described on GEI.de. Developed as a project from 2015 to 2020, it was designed to collect schoolbook excerpts from history, geography, and social studies or politics textbooks from different countries and prepare them for analysis with digital tools.
The project page explains that the collection includes transcribed full texts in the original language, along with German and English translations marked in TEI. The excerpts are accompanied by information on textbooks, authors and publishers, scholarly comments, educational histories, and essays on interdisciplinary research questions. The underlying tool was intended to assemble project-specific text corpora and enrich them with partly machine-readable information using software components.
