About Data Center - SAFE
Data Center - SAFE is the research data center of the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE in Frankfurt. It supports economic research in a German and European context, where pan-European datasets are scarce and firms are not consistently identified across existing data sources. Researchers often turn to US data for this reason, but policy conclusions drawn from non-European data may transfer only partly to Europe.
The center combines international data sources with newly collected European datasets and existing data that it merges and prepares for research use. Its stated goal is to give SAFE's five core research areas a common European data basis. Use of the data is subject to usage conditions, which the homepage links to rather than summarizes.
