About ExoplanetExplore

ExoplanetExplore presents exoplanet data through interactive visualizations and an analysis report. It includes a hoverable x-y map of exoplanet systems relative to the solar system, a correlation matrix heatmap of orbital and stellar parameters, and profiles of examples such as CoRoT-7 b, Proxima Centauri b, and HD 100546 b with text on orbits, habitability, and stellar properties.

The position view uses orthogonal projection with node size reflecting absolute z-coordinate value, and habitable zones are described as mostly accurate with possible errors from missing data. The correlation view uses only some data because the dataset has limited parameters.

Key features

  • Interactive x-y map of exoplanet systems relative to solar system
  • Correlation matrix heatmap of orbital and stellar parameters
  • Shows planet name and discovery method, e.g. CoRoT-7 b via Transit
  • Explanations of Kepler period law and stellar mass-temperature relation
  • Profiles of selected planets including Proxima Centauri b and HD 100546 b
  • Zoom reset and locate controls for position visualization
Best for: Readers who want an introductory overview of exoplanet positions, correlations, and selected planet examples.
Good for
  • Graphs are hoverable and interactive with explanatory notes
  • Links observed patterns to Kepler's laws and stellar relationships
  • Provides background on tidal locking, habitability, and flares
Watch out for
  • Habitable zones are described as mostly accurate and may reflect missing data
  • Correlation matrix uses only some data from limited-parameter dataset
  • System position map is an orthogonal x-y projection, not full 3D view
