About FocusTube

FocusTube is an open-source browser extension that blocks or hides distracting short-video and feed surfaces on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and current Reddit feeds. It offers Strict, Warn, and Passive blocking modes, a built-in focus/break timer with optional notifications, and local blocked-count and time-saved estimates. The project says settings and usage data stay local to the browser. It supports Chromium browsers through a Manifest V3 build and Firefox through a separate Manifest V2 compatibility manifest. Manual installation is possible by copying the appropriate manifest file and loading the extension unpacked. The latest published GitHub release is 2.5.0, but browser-store updates are separate, so store versions should be checked individually.
