hcom lets AI agents message, monitor, and spawn each other across terminals.

About hcom
hcom is an installable command-line tool that lets AI coding agents message, watch and spawn each other across terminals. You start an agent by putting hcom in front of its usual command, such as hcom claude, then prompt it as normal. Once agents are running, they can exchange messages in real time, check each other's status and transcripts, and create, fork, resume or stop other agents. The project is released under the MIT license.

Key features
- Messages arrive mid-turn or wake idle agents
- Event subscriptions that can trigger automatic reactions
- Search past conversations
- Headless agents that run in a background terminal
- MQTT relay for agents on different machines
- Local SQLite database for hook activity
- Hooks only activate for agents launched with hcom in front, so normal use is unaffected
- Works with a long list of coding CLIs, including claude, codex, gemini and cursor
- Released under the MIT license
- The cross-device relay needs a token that should be guarded like an API or SSH key
- Other AI tools join manually rather than with automatic delivery
