The open-multi-agent project provides a self-hosted TypeScript runtime with approvals and verifiable records.
Hive
Hive supports applications that coordinate multiple AI agents through shared task workflows.

About Hive
Hive is an open-source runtime for coordinating multiple AI agents on business tasks. A long-lived queen agent with a defined role, memory and tools takes a request from the user, does the first part of the work itself, and then proposes a colony of parallel worker agents for the rest. The user approves the colony before workers start.
Workers write their results to a shared SQLite tracker, which the queen can query to see what is done and what remains. The queen checks the rows before answering and can save a completed method as a reusable skill or playbook. Hive is installed from the GitHub repository with a quickstart script, not with pip. The quickstart asks which model to use and can connect to hosted model APIs, existing coding subscriptions, Hive LLM, or a local model through Ollama.
Key features
- Long-lived queen agents with a role, memory and tools
- Queen proposes a colony of worker agents for user approval
- Parallel worker agents that write results to a shared SQLite tracker
- Queen saves completed methods as reusable skills and playbooks
- Queen checks tracker rows before answering and can correct them
- Model choice among hosted APIs, coding subscriptions, Hive LLM, or local Ollama
- Open source, with the source code published in a public GitHub repository
- Supports a local model through Ollama, which needs no API key
- Shared tracker lets results be queried, audited and resumed
- Not a pip package; pip install -e . installs a placeholder that will not run
- Requires Python 3.11+, Node.js 20+ and git
- Hosted model options require an API key or a coding subscription from a third-party provider
